Parents at last
This is Judy..... so just to prepare you this commentary won't be the usual funny stories you've been getting from Cliff.
Court yesterday was great, we are now legally parents! It was somewhat formal, there was a judge, 2 jurors and a prosecuter. They asked many questions, to both Cliff & I. They asked alot of questions about our plans for their care once we got home. I was getting a little nervous after telling them that we'd be putting them in day care once I went back to work, they didn't seem to approve of that. After a 15 minute deliberation, they came back and announced that we have custody. Great news, at last!
The next step is a mandatory 10 day wait, then on the 25th we pick them up from the orphanage. We are hoping to be home on the 29th.
I've been trying to get some more pics on the blog, but it's been a real challenge! One of the things I miss almost as much as a looonnggggg HOT shower, is a decent computer and high speed connection.
We visited with the kids this morning and at the end they just didn't want us to leave. I asked Vova for a hug and we gave me about 10 kisses, it's getting harder and harder to leave them behind everyday. Gala just went into pout mode, she sorta 'shuts down' when she doesn't get her way, or if no-one pays attention to her. They have both cried on a couple of occasions when they got hurt, and let me comfort them which I have taken as a huge positive sign.
Our translator took us out to a really nice restaurant last nite to celebrate, we had the best meal! The food is actually very good here, we were expecting much worse. The only thing that was wrong with this restaurant is there was only 1 bathroom (the unisex restroom is 'all the rage' here too), and it was basically a hole in the floor, NO THANKS! Oh, there was also a cat roaming around inside the restaurant.
Tomorrow we are taking a bus to a big city about 2 hours away to do a bunch of shopping. We need clothes and toys for Vova, souvineers for family and friends, most importantly a change of pace from Nikopol.

Congrats! I think at this point I would be sitting there, numb. After all the years of trying to have a child, and the decision to adopt, and the waiting and travel, and hope, and wonder, and now it's official... Your parents! Not one, but two! I wish you both the best luck. I'm sure you will be forever happy. Parent hood is the most rewarding (and at times frustrating!) experience a person could have!
